Syracuse police responded to a stabbing reported Saturday night at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Westcott Street.

A cashier at Graby’s Mini Mart, located at 748 Westcott Street, said he called 911 at about 10 p.m. The man had walked into Graby’s bleeding, the cashier said. Police officers quickly responded to the scene.

“I feel like I’m responsible for the block,” the cashier said. “Gotta help each other out.”

The victim, 26, suffered a 2-inch laceration to the back that was deemed non-life threatening, said Syracuse Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Matthew Malinowski. SPD has “limited information” about the suspect, and the exact location of the stabbing is unclear, he said.

The reported victim told police he was stabbed in the back while walking in the area. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital, Malinowski said.

A crime scene unit was outside Graby’s just before midnight. Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety also responded to the call, according to scanner reports. DPS did not send a crime alert to the campus community.
