These seven pranks will surprise your friends on April Fools’ Day

You either love it or you hate it, but April 1 is here and the time to either prank or get pranked has arrived. If you love pranking your friends, here are some fun food pranks to try out — just make sure you know whether or not the person you want to prank has any allergies so those foods can be avoided.

Sugar-Salt Swap

First up are a few pretty simple pranks that don’t take much preparation. All you need to do is replace sugar with salt in any of your friend’s drinks or favorite foods. If they normally have coffee or tea with a bit of sugar, then replace it with salt and watch as they struggle with the drink. Another way to do this is by baking some cupcakes or any other sweet treat and swapping salt in place of sugar.

Candy Mix-up

This prank is pretty simple and harmless as long as you keep allergies in mind. Most people love Skittles, M&M’S and Reese’s Pieces, but many don’t want to eat them all at once. Get a bowl and mix all three up and tell your friends they are just skittles. Finally, watch their surprise as they eat a handful of this weird mix of flavors.

Spice Up Their Life

If you know how a friend or family member handles spicy foods, you can add some spicy hot sauce like Tabasco to their food. This works best with a dark food or something with red sauce already in it so they don’t notice the hot sauce. Try it with pasta, pizza or anything else you can think of — then sit back and enjoy the show.

Mayo Filling

This next idea may require a bit more work, but it’s sure to do the trick on almost anybody. Just fill some unfilled donuts or another pastry with some mayonnaise. Although there are some people who might love mayonnaise enough to eat something like this, this will definitely take anyone by surprise.

Tooth-Friendly Oreos

This next idea is really easy to pull off and is just plain disgusting. All you need is some white toothpaste, a knife and some Oreos. Just scrape off the white filling of the Oreo and replace it with the white toothpaste. It’s probably a good idea to stop whoever you are pranking from eating too much though, so they don’t get sick.

Sweet Onions

If you know someone who loves caramel apples, then this prank will work perfectly. All you need are the ingredients for caramel apples, but instead of apples, use onions instead — they are almost the same shape. When covered in caramel, nobody would be able to tell the difference.

Mustard Toothpaste

This prank might be kind of hard to pull off entirely, but it’s still possible. All you need is a bottle of mustard with a small nozzle, like French’s, and access to the person’s toothpaste. Empty the toothpaste a little bit and then squeeze the mustard into the tube. If they aren’t paying attention, they will soon have a mouthful of mustard. If they are, then they will at least still be incredibly surprised.

With these pranks in mind, you will be sure to have an interesting April Fools’ Day — just be careful not to go overboard.
