Andrew White makes All-ACC Third Team; Tyler Lydon earns All-ACC Honorable Mention

Syracuse graduate transfer Andrew White was named Sunday to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Third Team. Sophomore forward Tyler Lydon earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors.

White led the Orange with an average of 17.9 points per game this season, which ranks eighth in the ACC. SU is his third school after playing at Kansas and Nebraska. White scored in double digits in all but three games this year. His 40 points against Georgia Tech on Saturday marked a career-high and tied a Carrier Dome record for a men’s game.

In his only season with the Orange, White led the ACC by converting 101 3-point field goals, 16 more than anyone else in the conference.

“When people play any kind of normal defense,” Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim said, “(White’s) getting his shots.”

Lydon averaged 8.3 rebounds this season, which led Syracuse and ranks sixth in the conference. His 13.4 points per game are second on the Orange while his 41.6 3-point field-goal percentage is second among SU’s scholarship players. Lydon also ranks eighth in the ACC with 1.39 blocks per game.

While Lydon’s stats don’t necessarily pop, he’s often been Syracuse’s best player, affecting the game on the defensive end and with floor spacing even when he’s not scoring. He was named to the John R. Wooden Award preseason top 50 list, an award given to the nation’s top player.
