Forward Chris Nanco returns to a Syracuse squad that has been picked third in the Atlantic Coast Conference. SU is ranked sixth nationally.

Syracuse has been picked to finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division by the preseason coaches’ poll.

Clemson and Wake Forest were picked to finish ahead of SU in the Atlantic Division. Syracuse didn’t receive a single first-place vote overall while five teams — North Carolina, Clemson, Notre Dame, Virginia and Wake Forest — did.

The Orange, defending ACC tournament champions, is ranked No. 6 in the preseason national coaches’ poll. Last year, SU advanced to the national semifinals for the first time in program history, finishing the season 16-5-4.

SU will wrap up its exhibition schedule this week with matches against Michigan State and Ohio State in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Orange opens the 2016 season at home with a match vs. Massachusetts on Friday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m., followed by a match with Loyola Marymount on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. Both will be played at SU Soccer Stadium as part of the Central New York Classic.
