Floyd Little spoke with The Daily Orange on Monday. He said he could potentially see Jordan Fredericks wearing the famed No. 44

Floyd Little has publicly voiced his desire to bring No. 44 back on the field for Syracuse football. And while he admits the 2015 season has been “a struggle,” he still sees potential from an up-and-coming young running back to wear the historic No. 44.

“Jordan (Fredericks) is a good runner,” Little said. “I like his style. I like his vision. He’s a good player. I have talked to him and embraced him and encouraged him. But we haven’t talked about (wearing No. 44).”

Little said he likes how Fredericks creates yards even after taking the initial hit on the run. It’s what makes him a “great player,” Little said. The freshman has taken over the top spot on the depth chart and has run for 426 yards while scoring three touchdowns. He also has caught a touchdown and has become the best option after starting the year behind Devante McFarlane and George Morris.

Floyd Little will be honored on Saturday with a statue to commemorate his time wearing the No. 44. Statues of Ernie Davis and Jim Brown will also be unveiled before Syracuse faces No. 1 Clemson.
