Syracuse was selected as the fifth-best team in the Atlantic Coast Conference on Wednesday in both the preseason coaches’ poll and Blue Ribbon Panel poll. Junior point guard Alexis Peterson was also selected to the all-conference team by both groups.

Last season the Orange finished fifth with an 11-5 ACC record and lost to No. 13 seed Wake Forest in its first conference tournament game in March. Syracuse advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA tournament where it lost to South Carolina and finished with a 22-10 overall record.

As a sophomore, Peterson was named to the All-ACC second team and the All-ACC defensive team. She led the Orange with 16.2 points per game. Peterson’s 4.12 assists per game was third in the conference and her 2.38 steals per game was best in the ACC.

Syracuse kicks off its season on Nov. 13 at Rhode Island.
