Defensive end Sheppard becomes 26th commit in Syracuse’s Class of 2015

Three-star defensive end Qaadir Sheppard has verbally committed to Syracuse’s recruiting Class of 2015, the Iona Preparatory School (New York) Twitter account announced on Thursday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 222-pound Sheppard chose the Orange over offers from Central Florida, Pittsburgh and Boston College, among others according to Scout. The Iona Prep product is the No. 2 defensive end in the state and 23rd-best at the position in the east region, as ranked by Scout.

His verbal pledge is the fourth in the last week and a half for Syracuse and third overall from a defensive end, joining three-star products Dana Levine and Brandon Ginnetti. Ginnetti, though, will not arrive at SU until 2016 due to injury.

Sheppard is the 26th member of the Orange’s Class of 2015 and third from the state of New York.
