Defensive tackle Harvey reportedly plans to transfer from Syracuse

Syracuse freshman defensive tackle Jalen Harvey will transfer, Scout.com reported Saturday night. The Orange will only have five scholarship defensive tackles, according to Scout.com.

The reasons for Harvey’s transfer are currently unknown, according to Scout.

The 6-foot-2, 315-pound Harvey didn’t play in a game for the Orange, and chose SU just days before national signing day over offers from Austin Peay, Arkansas State and Southern Alabama. Harvey is from Birmingham, Alabama.

His departure follows the verbal commitment of Steven Clark, a two-star defensive tackle from Guntersville, Alabama who verbally pledged to the Orange’s recruiting Class of 2015 on Thursday.

Clark joined three-star prospect Tyler Cross, of Duluth, Georgia, and Anthony Giudice, a two-star recruit from Avon, Connecticut, as the three defensive tackles in the Orange’s incoming class. There are three defensive ends verbally pledged to the group, as well.
