4-star power forward Diagne reportedly expected to verbally commit to Syracuse

Moustapha Diagne, a heavily recruited power forward in the Class of 2015, is expected to choose Syracuse at the Mary Kline Classic on Saturday, the Post-Standard reported Friday.

The Post-Standard’s Mike Waters cited two sources saying that “Syracuse will likely be Diagne’s pick” after he announced earlier this week that he will make his college decision at the event.

Diagne is a four-star recruit according to Scout.com. He is listed at 6 feet, 8 inches and 230 pounds, and received offers from Florida, Kansas, Memphis and Villanova, among other schools, also according to Scout. He currently attends Pope John XXIII (Sparta, N.J.) High School, which is in close proximity to West Orange, N.J., where the Mary Kline Classic will be held.

Diagne has visited Syracuse multiple times, the Post-Standard reported. When he visited campus for the Syracuse-Duke basketball game on Feb. 1 he told The Daily Orange, “It was a great game, maybe the best college game I have ever seen.”

Should Diagne verbal to Syracuse, he will join five-star small forward Malachi Richardson (Hamilton, N.J.), four-star power forward Tyler Lydon (New Hampton, N.H.) and four-star shooting guard Franklin Howard (Fairfax, Va.) in the Orange’s Class of 2015.
