After recording ts best season in program history last year, Syracuse men’s soccer was ranked No. 20 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason rankings released Tuesday.

The Orange, which went 14-6-1 and reached the Sweet 16 in its last season as a member of the Big East, is one of five Atlantic Coast Conference programs to crack the preseason top 25. Also listed are Maryland (No. 2), Notre Dame (No. 7), Wake Forest (No. 17) and Virginia (No. 25).

SU finished last season No. 17 in the NSCAA rankings and returns 16 players and six starters. Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Bono was recently named the No. 75 player in the country and one of the top 10 goalkeepers by TopDrawSoccer.com.

However, the Orange will have to make its transition to the ACC without forward Tony Asante, who will likely miss the entire season with an ACL tear.
