Former commit Edwards no longer considering Syracuse, according to report

Former Syracuse commit Augustus Edwards is no longer considering joining the Orange, Rivals reported Monday.

Edwards, a running back from Tottenville High School on Staten Island, is a three star prospect by both Scout.com and Rivals. He committed to Doug Marrone and Syracuse last July, but when Marrone left for the Buffalo Bills, Edwards reopened his recruitment.

He tweeted earlier this month that he would be taking official visits to Rutgers, Florida State and Miami. Edwards visited the Seminoles last week, and the Florida State coaching staff reportedly considers Edwards a top target.

The 6-foot-1, 225-lb. running back had offers from a number of schools, including Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland, Pittsburgh and Purdue.
