Dining halls to operate on normal hours

All of Syracuse University’s dining halls will remain open with normal operating hours despite the severe weather warnings for Hurricane-turned Superstorm Sandy.

Mrunal Karkhanis, a Food Services employee who works at Ernie Davis, said she agrees with the university’s decision to keep the dining hall’s regular schedule.

“They should be open,” Karkhanis said. “But because of the weather, there will be less people outside, so I don’t think there will be a lot of people coming to the dining halls.”

Rachael D’Addezio, a sophomore graphic design major, said she was somewhat hesitant to go to the dining halls.

“I’m kind of concerned of it getting so bad where I don’t want to walk across the street to get food,” she said. “But I’m stocked up on food.”

Adam Wade, a junior computer science major, said he is happy the dining halls are staying open for the next couple of days.

“Right now I’m not worried about anything,” he said. “I’m sure concerns will come.”

Essential campus services, including Schine and Goldstein student dining centers, the Department of Public Safety and Health Services will also remain operational with normal hours.
