Car, bus collide in front of College Place bus stop

A car and a bus collided in front of the College Place bus stop at about 5:15 p.m. Monday. The woman driving the car, the bus driver and the five students on the bus at the time were unharmed.

Traffic on College Place slowed down after the accident as drivers maneuvered around both the construction and the two vehicles. The road was temporarily reduced to a one-way street, Cpl. Adam Wheeler of the Department of Public Safety said.

“As far as the investigation goes, we can’t really comment on what exactly happened,” Wheeler said.

The bus driver, who did not give his name, said he had to pull over at the bus stop at an angle due to the College Place construction. Once he took off, he said he did not “see anything, but suddenly felt the impact” of the car, a blue Hyundai Santa Fe.

There was only minor damage to both the car and the bus. The five students on the bus safely exited and boarded a different bus.
