MBB : Lazarus Sims leaves SU to become assistant coach at Binghamton

Lazarus Sims has left Syracuse University for an assistant coaching position at Binghamton University.

After serving as SU’s coordinator of player development and assistant strength and conditioning coach for the last five years, Sims has been hired as an assistant coach under Bearcats head coach Tommy Dempsey, according to a Binghamton University press release.

Sims played at Syracuse from 1991-96, serving as the starting point guard for the Orange in the 1996 NCAA championship game against Kentucky. His 281 assists that season are the second-highest single-season total in SU history.

He played professionally in the United States Basketball League, International Basketball Association, International Basketball League and Continental Basketball Association. Stops included Szczecin in Poland and a three-year stint with the Harlem Globetrotters.
