Scenes from The Big Event, April 16, 2011

Despite the scattered rain and cold weather, Saturday was a good day for the South Side of Syracuse. The Big Event, a service day run by OrangeSeeds, a freshman leadership organization, took place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on South Salina Street and the surrounding area. The goal of the event was to beautify the South Side, along with building a relationship between Syracuse University and the local community. Students and faculty from SU and SUNY-ESF picked up trash, planted lilies, cleaned a local church and painted a mural.
