A former Syracuse University graduate student died Wednesday as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, according to an e-mail sent to the SU community Wednesday night.

 

The student, Gustavo ‘Alex’ Zuniga, crashed his motorcycle Sunday in New Jersey, according to the e-mail. Zuniga graduated this summer from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a master’s degree in television, radio and film. Since graduating, he was interning as a Turner Fellow at Turner Broadcasting System.

 

Though the university is not in session, counseling services will be offered to those who need it, said Thomas Wolfe, senior vice president and dean of student affairs. The Counseling Center, Hendricks Chapel and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program are available to anyone who needs support.

 

A campus memorial is currently being planned and will be announced when plans are finished, Wolfe said.
