Syracuse climbed the rankings after sliding in recent weeks.

Syracuse (11-6, 4-4 Atlantic Coast) reversed its slide in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings on Tuesday, moving up four spots to No. 28. New individual rankings won’t be released until April 2.

The Orange played just one match last week, upsetting then-No. 15 Florida State at Drumlins Country Club. It was their first ranked win since beating then-No. 9 Michigan in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend two months ago and came a week after a 5-2 loss to now-No. 14 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The Michigan-upset earned SU a program-record No. 10 ranking, but the Orange have slipped in the two months that have followed, especially struggling against ranked opponents. They’ve gone 1-5 against ranked opponents since and failed to win a match at the ITA Indoor Championships.

Syracuse’s slate of games doesn’t get any easier as it has six ACC matchups before the conference tournament. This weekend, SU faces No. 2 North Carolina on Friday and No. 10 NC State on Sunday, both at Drumlins.

“We haven’t played as a unit, as a team very well at the same time,” SU head coach Younes Limam said, “and I think when that’s going to happen, we’re going to be extremely good.”
