Jacob Bongiovi, son of singer Jon Bon Jovi, will attend Syracuse University next fall.

Bongiovi made the announcement in an Instagram post Sunday. He included photos of him wearing matching SU hats with his father and mother, Dorothea. Bongiovi’s commitment to SU later spread on Bon Jovi fan accounts and Facebook groups of SU parents.

It is unclear what Bongiovi will study at SU, according to Syracuse.com.

Bongiovi played football at The Pennington School in New Jersey and led a walkout at his school in response to the Parkland mass shooting in 2018. He’s also been involved in two of his father’s charities: the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation and the JBJ Soul Kitchen.

Bon Jovi is best known as lead singer of the band Bon Jovi. The band has sold more than 100 million records since forming in 1983 and has won a Grammy Award for the song “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.”

Bon Jovi was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Bongiovi is the second youngest of Bon Jovi’s four children. His sister, Stephanie, attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York.

CLARIFICATION: In a previous version of this post, the number of records Bon Jovi has sold was unclear.
