Oversight committee names members to 6 working groups

A Fast Forward committee has appointed members to six working groups tasked with working to implement Syracuse University’s Academic Strategic Plan.

Each of the six working groups will help the Academic Strategic Plan Oversight Committee choose objectives that will guide the committee in implementing the strategic plan, according to an SU News release. Each working group will have three objectives.

The members of the committees consist of faculty, staff and students, according to the release.

The groups will focus on one of the following topics, which are components of the strategic plan: The Student Experience, Discovery, Internationalization, Commitment to Veterans and Military-connected Families, Innovation and One University.

“We have a great team in place, and I know they will be both collaborative and thorough,” said Interim Vice Chancellor and Provost Liz Liddy, who chairs the Oversight Committee, in the release. “At the same time, the plan also is a living document, which means that we fully expect it to continue to evolve even as we move more deeply into the implementation phase.”

The strategic plan has been in the works for more than one year and will “refine the University’s institutional vision in light of current and emerging needs and opportunities, and identify broad University wide goals,” according to the release. A final draft of the plan was completed in June.

The strategic plan is part of Fast Forward Syracuse, a three-part initiative from Chancellor Kent Syverud that will serve as a “roadmap” for the university. The Campus Master Plan, which focuses on SU’s infrastructure, and the Operational Excellence Program, which focuses on funding, are also part of the initiative.
