Syracuse women’s lacrosse dropped from No. 4 to No. 7 in the latest Inside Lacrosse rankings poll, released on Feb. 17.

The Orange (3-1) beat Albany and Binghamton in back-to-back games this past weekend after losing 17-16 to then-No. 10 Stony Brook last Monday.

Though the halftime scoreline was 7-7, Syracuse collapsed in the second half, allowing the Seawolves to go on a 7-0 scoring run. The Orange nearly mounted a comeback, pulling the game within one score, but ultimately came up short when they lost the final draw with 1:08 left to play.

Stony Brook moved up five spots in the latest ranking, overtaking Syracuse.

Against Binghamton and Albany, the Orange defense conceded five goals total, and the offense scored 35 in the two-game span.

On Saturday, Syracuse faces No. 6 Northwestern, who eliminated SU in the 2019 NCAA Tournament quarterfinal. The Wildcats fell three spots in the latest poll after a 15-17 loss to No. 2 Notre Dame, but the Wildcat offense has scored 97 goals over its first four games, the most in the nation.
