SU to suspend in-person operations in anticipation of inclement weather

All in-person classes scheduled after 5 p.m. on Thursday are canceled, according to a campus-wide alert.

Syracuse University will suspend operations as of 5 p.m. Thursday in anticipation of inclement weather, according to a campus-wide weather alert. All in-person classes scheduled after 5 p.m. on Thursday are canceled. Online classes will continue as planned.

SU decided to suspend operations due to a Winter Storm Warning across central New York, prompted by predicted extreme winter weather and challenging road conditions Thursday night and into Friday, according to the alert.

Buses will continue to run throughout the evening, but delays may occur.



All residence halls and dining halls will remain open, but the Schine Student Center, Goldstein Student Center and the Barnes Center at The Arch will close at 9 p.m.

Other recreational facilities such as the Ernie Davis gymnasium and Tennity Ice Pavilion will close at 5 p.m. Additionally, Carnegie Library and King + King Architecture Library will close at 5 p.m., but Bird Library will remain open until midnight.

The Stadium Testing Center will plan on opening at 8:30 a.m. Friday as scheduled.

The Interfraternity Council recruitment kickoff has been moved to a virtual format. Fraternity and Sorority Affairs will inform potential new members of updated details later this afternoon.

SU released an updated weather alert early Friday morning announcing that operations would begin at 10 a.m. on Friday. In-person classes before that time were canceled.
