Syracuse football recruiting: Hybrid Darius Stubbs decommits from SU

Class of 2016 athlete Darius Stubbs decommitted from Syracuse on Thursday evening, he announced via Twitter. Stubbs was recruited to play the hybrid position in former offensive coordinator Tim Lester’s system.

Stubbs is the second player to decommit from Syracuse who originally committed while Scott Shafer was still the head coach. He joins outside linebacker/safety Will Harper, who decommitted from SU earlier Thursday.

The Luella (Georgia) High School prospect is ranked with three stars and as the 38th best all-purpose back in the 2016 class, according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. The 5-foot-10, 187-pound Stubbs has offers from eight other schools according to 247Sports.

Stubbs committed to Syracuse on June 26. The Orange’s 2016 class is now down to 14 players and only one player, Moe Neal, was recruited as a hybrid. However, under Dino Babers, it’s unclear how he will use players who were supposed to play hybrid.
