Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud sent out a campus-wide email Wednesday morning detailing changes within the athletics department and an update with the status of the NCAA’s sanctions.

Here’s what we know:

Jim Boeheim:

• Men’s basketball head coach Jim Boeheim is expected to retire in three years, according to the email.
• Boeheim addressed the media on Thursday morning regarding his planned retirement and the NCAA investigation.

Director of Athletics:

• Director of Athletics Daryl Gross is stepping down as director of athletics and is being reassigned to vice president, special assistant to the chancellor and will serve as an adjunct sport management professor in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics.
• Gross released a statement regarding his stepping down.
• Gross went on ESPN Radio Syracuse to discuss Boeheim and his role change.
• Pete Sala, managing director of the Carrier Dome, will serve as interim director of athletics.
• SU has formed a committee to search for a new director of athletics.
• Chancellor Kent Syverud discussed what he’s looking for in the next director of athletics.
• Syverud also discussed the timing of Gross’ decision to step down.

NCAA Investigations:

• SU is planning to appeal the vacation of wins and the reduction of scholarships in the men’s basketball programs.
• On March 6, the NCAA released its findings of its investigation into the university, which included sanctions for the men’s basketball and football programs.

• Class of 2016 recruit Matthew Moyer said his recruitment will not be affected by the news.
