On the first day of NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Florida, Syracuse fielded three runners who qualified for the NCAA Division I Track and Field Outdoor Championships.

The action began on Thursday night with sophomore Laura Dickinson and senior Paige Stoner competing in the women’s 10k. Following up her gold medal performance at the ACC Championship, Stoner (33:34.89) finished ninth, while Dickinson secured a sixth place finish with a personal-best time of 33:31.24.

Coming off a gold medal performance of his own, Iliass Aouani ran the men’s 10k in 29:19.46, good for 12th place — the final qualifying position. Joe Dragon (29:27.46) narrowly missed out on qualification, placing 14th, while Kevin James (30:18.63) placed 27th.

Dickinson, Stoner and Aouani will compete at the NCAA Championship in two weeks in Austin, Texas.

The action continues today with Richard Floyd competing in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, followed by the women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Cheyenne Trigg, Alexis Crosby, Dasia Pressley and Eunice Boateng.
