4 Syracuse players named Inside Lacrosse All-Americans

Four Syracuse players were named as Inside Lacrosse All-Americans on Sunday evening. None were named to the first team.

Defender Nick Mellen earned second-team honors, joined by sophomores Brett Kennedy and senior Brendan Curry on the third team and junior Peter Dearth, who earned an honorable mention.

Mellen tied for a team-high 19 caused turnovers and scooped 31 ground balls while primarily defending the opponents best offensive option. Curry finished tied for fourth on the team with 33 points, including 14 assists, third on SU.

Kennedy, a long stick defensive midfielder, finished third for SU with 44 ground balls and scored three goals on the year, including one against Loyola in the Orange’s first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament. Peter Dearth, a short stick defensive midfielder, caused 15 turnovers, trailing only Mellen and Tyson Bomberry.

Syracuse’s (9-5, 2-2 Atlantic Coast) season came to an end on Saturday when it collapsed against Loyola (12-4, 7-1 Patriot), allowing a fourth-quarter comeback and losing 15-13.
