Drake Porter was blasted for 15 goals including a 7-1 run to end the game.

BALTIMORE — In the first round of the NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament, Syracuse steadied the No. 8 overall seed Loyola Greyhounds for the first half. At one point, the Orange held a commanding four-goal lead. But at 12-8, Loyola went on a 7-1 run to close the game. Pat Spencer blasted the Orange with nine points (three goals, six assists), including the clinching score in an open net that made it a three-goal lead for the Greyhounds. Syracuse’s up-and-down season ended the same as last season: in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Here’s what our beat writers had to say about the loss.
