Weers contributed on both ends in SU's two season-opening wins.

Syracuse senior Roos Weers was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced in a news release Tuesday morning.

Weers was a major contributor for the Orange during SU’s two wins over Vermont on Friday and Albany on Sunday. She led the defense, especially on corners, and scored two goals off of penalty corners. She’s the captain and unquestioned leader of a defense that has allowed just one goal in two games. The Orange have yet to concede a goal this season off of a corner.

This is the fifth time in Weers’ SU career that she has been given Defensive Player of the Week honors. Duke’s Jillian Wolgemuth was the other defensive player honored Tuesday.
