Mike Cavanaugh will join the Syracuse football staff as an offensive line coach an SU Athletics spokesperson confirm to The Daily Orange on Tuesday.

Cavanaugh spent the last three seasons as the Nebraska offensive line coach. He followed former Nebraska head coach Mike Riley from Oregon State after 10 seasons with the Beavers. Cavanaugh leaves Nebraska along with much of Riley’s staff which is being replaced by new Nebraska coach Scott Frost.

Other past stops in Cavanaugh’s 31 years of experience as an offensive line coach include the San Diego Chargers and the University of Hawaii prior to Oregon State.

Syracuse has now added two coaches to its staff in as many days, with Cavanaugh joining the staff one day after Keith Caton was added as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Cavanaugh will join co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Mike Lynch on the staff. Syracuse has yet to name a new offensive coordinator since the departure of former offensive coordinator Sean Lewis in December.
