Last season, Syracuse saw its bowl eligibility hopes slip away with four straight losses, including allowing 76 points and 644 yards to Pittsburgh.

Syracuse (2-2) will face Pittsburgh (1-3, 0-1 Atlantic Coast) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, the ACC announced on Monday morning. The game will be broadcast on the regional sports network.

SU hosts Pitt in the Carrier Dome in the two team’s first matchup since the 76-61 shootout in Heinz Field for last season’s finale. The Orange hadn’t allowed that many points in 125 years and the two teams combined for more than 1,300 yards of offense.

This year, the Panthers beat Youngstown State in its season-opener in overtime, then lost three straight to No. 4 Penn State, 33-14, No. 9 Oklahoma State, 59-21, and then at Georgia Tech, 35-17. Pitt is also undergoing something like a quarterback battle, head coach Pat Narduzzi said, between Southern California transfer Max Browne and upstart Ben DiNucci.
