Syracuse field hockey announces 2016 schedule

Syracuse will try and defend its national title this upcoming season. The Orange released its 2016 schedule on Tuesday.

The Syracuse field hockey team’s 2016 schedule was released Tuesday morning. The Orange is slated to play nine teams that participated in last year’s NCAA tournament, including Atlantic Coast Conference rival North Carolina, whom the Orange defeated in the national championship game in 2015.

Fresh off its first national championship in program history, the Orange will display its championship banner during its home opener against Boston College on Sept. 9.

The Orange starts the season with three games at neutral locations against Temple, Maryland, and Liberty. The team’s first road game will be against Hofstra before returning for its first pair of home games.

The last game of the season will be on Oct. 30 against Indiana. Overall, Syracuse will play 16 games with six staying within the Atlantic Coast Conference.
