The proposed promenade for Syracuse University would make University Place a pedestrian-friendly walkway for students — preventing vehicles from driving there.

Road re-striping work along portions of Waverly and Comstock avenues will begin Tuesday.

The re-striping is part of the University Place promenade construction conducted by Syracuse University contractors, the City of Syracuse and CENTRO to “better facilitate bus traffic,” said Keith Kobland, media manager of SU Office of News Service, in an email.

Due to the re-striping, bike lanes along Waverly and Comstock avenues will be modified into a single one-way track eastbound on Waverly Avenue and southbound on Comstock Avenue.  There will be work crews on the site to help navigate traffic, according to the email.

The re-striping will run through Wednesday.

Starting Thursday, CENTRO bus stops along University Place will be relocated to new places on Comstock and Waverly avenues, according to the email.
