Reader responds to April 7 Liberal column on Democratic unity

Joanna, you say you fear a “terrifying fate” with the idea of Ted Cruz becoming president. I understand your thoughts but deeply disagree. Here is why. First, I would highly recommend you take a look at some of the great 5 minute videos at Prager University on the web. This great scholar and former Democrat is much better than me explaining why you, in fact, should be terrified not voting for someone with Mr. Cruz’s values. Here is one to try out.

Most people are attracted to the value system of the Democratic particularly when we are young. That value system is called leftism. It is very alluring because it speaks to the child within each of us.  We all want to be taken care of.

Most of us come to grow up and realize that once we leave home there is no Mom and Dad government to take care of us. In fact, the leaders embracing leftism are actually very cruel. They make many of us believe fantasy. They take our money and our liberty. They tell us what cars we will drive, what schools we will send our kids to, what healthcare we will get, how we will run our businesses and on an on- all because Mom and Dad government will give utopia. Every place and every time the left rules we get big, powerful commanding states lording over very little childlike citizens; we get tyranny.  We get destruction of wealth and autonomy. That is why they wait quietly in line for toilet paper today in the leftist paradise of Venezuela. Joanna, we should be terrorized that so many Americans still find leftism alluring. We should be terrorized that they do not understand that it is the Ted Cruz’s of American life who hold true American values, values that respect you and want you to live your life as you see fit. American values give you vast amounts of liberty in a land with government in the far background of your life. It is Ted Cruz’s values of liberty, a love of free market capitalism, the beautiful Constitution, a small but essential government, protection of private property that bring you maturity, strength, and the richness of American life. Think about it. Our founders did. They were terrorized over what you embrace.
