Power outage affects Syracuse University students on and off campus

Several Syracuse University students reported a power outage in their residence halls on Main Campus, apartments on South Campus and off-campus housing on Tuesday morning.

A National Grid representative said they could not determine the cause of the power outage that occurred around 10 a.m. without an exact address. But they estimated that about 4,000 customers were affected by the outage.

The National Grid representative added that they are hopeful all power would be restored around 11:30 a.m. that same day.

A representative with FixIt said they did not know the cause of the power outage yet. FIXit staff members experienced brief flashes of power outage at FIXit’s headquarters located in the Carriage House at 161 Farm Acre Road on South Campus.

The FixIt representative added that the power was out in Lyons Hall and some street lights were out as well.
