Syracuse football recruiting: Defensive tackle McKinley Williams becomes 17th member of 2016 class

Class of 2016 defensive tackle McKinley Williams has verbally committed to Syracuse, according to multiple media reports. He is the first defensive tackle in the class and the third player to commit to the Orange on Saturday.

Williams attends Dillard (Florida) High School and was teammates with Class of 2016 linebacker and early enrollee Kenneth Ruff. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Williams is ranked with two stars by Rivals.com. He also had offers from Pittsburgh, Middle Tennessee State and Idaho. Williams is taking an official visit to SU this weekend.

Syracuse’s 2016 recruiting class is now up to 17 members with less than two weeks until National Signing Day. Eleven of those 17 committed to the Orange since head coach Dino Babers’ hiring on Dec. 5. Five of the 17 are from the Sunshine State.

Offensive tackle Michael Clark and running back Jo-El Shaw also committed to Syracuse on Saturday.
