Evan Foster decommitted from Bowling Green on Dec. 7. While on his official visit this weekend, he reunited with head coach Dino Babers by committing to Syracuse.

Class of 2016 safety Evan Foster verbally committed to Syracuse, he announced in a tweet Sunday morning. Foster decommitted from Bowling Green after head coach Dino Babers and six of his assistants moved to SU. Now, Foster is reunited with Babers and his staff.

He is the 18th member of the Orange’s 2016 recruiting class and the fourth defensive back, joining safety Devon Clarke, cornerback Carl Jones and safety Scoop Bradshaw. Foster is ranked with three stars and as the 137th best safety in the 2016 class, according to Scout.com. He also had offers from Purdue, Toledo and Eastern Michigan.

“I love the gear and the opportunity for me,” Foster said of Syracuse in a Twitter direct message. “Great living arrangements, one of the best I’ve seen.”

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety from West Bloomfield (Michigan) High School announced his decommitment in a tweet on Dec. 7 and wrote, “I am reopening my recruiting to ensure I end up in the best place for me.”

At Babers’ introductory press conference, he said, “It’s kind of taboo to go back and recruit guys that you recruited. If they decommit, that’s one thing but if they’re committed to Bowling Green, I can tell you I will not go after them.”

Foster’s main recruiter at Bowling Green was secondary coach Nick Monroe and earlier this week, Foster received an in-home visit from Monroe.

Foster committed while on his official visit to SU and is the fourth player to do so in the past 20 hours. Offensive tackle Michael Clark, running back Jo-El Shaw and defensive tackle McKinley Williams all committed on Saturday.
