SU H-back Ervin Philips takes on several N.C. State defenders. He logged 27 rushing yards and 36 more receiving.

No. 12 North Carolina (10-1, 7-0 Atlantic Coast) upended Virginia Tech (5-6, 3-4). Frank Beamer coached his final home game on the sidelines. The Hokies lost in overtime, but carried the 29-year coach from the field.

No. 4 Notre Dame (9-1) narrowly skated by Boston College (3-8, 0-7) in a football-converted Fenway Park by a score of 19-16.

No. 1 Clemson (11-0, 8-0) kept winning as quarterback Deshaun Watson led the team to its seventh consecutive game of 500 or more yards. CU beat Wake Forest (3-8, 1-6) 33-13 on Saturday.

No. 14 Florida State (9-2, 6-2) took a break from conference play to wallop FCS opponent Chattanooga (8-3), 52-13.

Miami (7-4, 4-3) won on senior day 38-21 over Georgia Tech (3-8, 1-7) ensuring that the Hurricanes won’t have consecutive losing seasons, which last happened in 1976 and 1977.

Virginia (4-7, 3-4) won by a score of 42-34 over Duke (6-5, 3-4).

Pittsburgh (8-3, 6-1) nearly lost a 25-point lead, but managed to fend off a second-half spurt by Louisville (6-5, 5-3) to hang on and win, 45-34.

North Carolina State (7-4, 3-4) ended the bowl hopes of Syracuse (3-8, 1-6). Zack Mahoney struggled to throw the deep ball, two SU receivers were ejected and later suspended.
