SU student reports strong arm robbery Thursday morning

A Syracuse University student reported a strong arm robbery that occurred off campus early Thursday morning, police said.

The student said in her report to the Department of Public Safety that she was walking alone on the 1000 block of Comstock Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. when a man approached her from behind.

The suspect “forcibly grabbed” the student’s backpack from her shoulder and fled the scene on foot heading south on Comstock Avenue, then west on East Colvin Street away from campus, according to an email from DPS.

No injuries were reported and there was no threat of a weapon, according to the email. The report was filed around 8 p.m. on Thursday and the suspect was described as being about 30 years old, DPS said.

This is the third public safety notice sent out in the past week, including an attempted strong arm robbery last Friday night.
