Chipotle Mexican Grill on Marshall Street opened late on Monday due to sewage and drainage problems that occurred the night before.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Chipotle experienced a sewage problem that caused the drains to clog. The store, which is located at 129 Marshall St., flooded just before closing on Sunday and did not reopen until about 1 p.m. on Monday when everything had been cleaned.

A Chipotle employee said this made for an “interesting close” on Sunday and an “interesting opening” on Monday.

The store posted a sign on its door informing customers that they would be unable to open on time due to “circumstances beyond our control.”

After a plumber came to the store to fix the drainage problem, the store was wiped down and everything was cleaned.

A Chipotle employee said that business had been going “pretty well so far” since the store reopened and that it seemed to be back on its feet.
