Leigh Ross resigns after 9 seasons as Syracuse softball coach

Syracuse head coach Leigh Ross has resigned from her position, according to a Wednesday morning SU Athletics release.

“It is time for the next chapter for me and my family,” Ross said in the release. “My passion for the game remains strong and I intend to remain involved in this great sport, however, for the immediate future, I want to spend more time with Jared and Teagan as they finish high school and move on to the next phase in their lives. Syracuse will hold a special place in our heart and we are appreciative for the time we enjoyed in Central New York.”

Assistant coach Mike Bosch will take over the interim head coaching duties. Bosch handled the pitching staff last season and was also Ross’ assistant at SU from 2010-12.

Ross has been at the helm of the Orange since 2006, and the 2015 season was the first time in her tenure that SU didn’t make a conference tournament.

Syracuse posted a 4-13 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference to go along with a 20-26 overall mark.
