Syracuse football recruiting: Athlete Taylor Riggins becomes 9th commit in Class of 2016

Class of 2016 athlete Taylor Riggins announced his commitment to Syracuse via Twitter on Thursday afternoon. Mike McAllister of Scout.com first reported the news. Riggins is the class’ ninth member.

Riggins, listed at 6 feet 2 inches and 215 pounds, projects as either a running back or linebacker and had no other offers, according Scout. The Aquinas (New York) Institute product is the eighth in-state commit dating back to the Class of 2013. In the three years before that, SU brought in 28 New York commits.

If Riggins plays outside linebacker, he would be the fourth defensive prospect in the Class of 2016. Aquinas, located in Rochester, will play Christian Brothers (New York) Academy in the Carrier Dome on Sept. 5.

High school teammate Jamir Jones was also being recruited by Syracuse but committed to Notre Dame where his brother Jarron Jones is a defensive tackle.
