Syracuse basketball recruiting: South Kent head coach speaks highly of Matthew Moyer

Class of 2016 Syracuse commit Matthew Moyer will transfer from Lincoln (Ohio) High School to play his senior year at South Kent (Connecticut) School, and his new head coach had some high praise.

“Matthew is a versatile player that is a match-up nightmare for defenders,” South Kent head coach Kelvin Jefferson said in an email. “He can go inside or out and be equally affective.”

Moyer is the lone verbal commit in SU’s Class of 2016 and stands at 6 feet 8 inches and weighs 215 pounds, according to Scout.com. He was invited to the NBPA Top 100 camp, he announced on Twitter Wednesday afternoon and is ranked the No. 58 prospect in his class by ESPN.

And while Moyer possesses length that will help the Orange inside, Jefferson also highlighted his versatility on the court and accolades off it.

“His length and athleticism enable him to be a high-level rebounder but he can also hit the 3 or lead the break,” Jefferson said. “On top of all of that he is a great kid from a great family. A national honor student who happens to be an elite player. I am looking forward to coaching him.”
