Rodney Williams misses spring game with flu; Wayne Morgan sits out with lower-leg injury

Defensive backs Rodney Williams and Wayne Morgan both missed Saturday’s spring game due to the flu and a lower-leg injury, respectively.

“We got a little flu bug going, in fact (offensive coordinator) Tim Lester wasn’t even at the banquet last night,” head coach Scott Shafer said. “Rodney had that and Wayne had a little lower-leg injury so we decided not to play him today.”

Shafer added that there are a couple guys hampered by the flu, but that they’ll all be back to full strength in a couple days.

“It’s been ugly,” the head coach said.

Williams played only two games last year and was ruled out for the season with a lower-body injury on Oct. 27. Morgan also missed significant time last season, seeing time in only three games because of a knee injury that required surgery — though Shafer said the injury this time around had no relation to last year’s.

Lester was in attendance on Saturday but was unavailable for interviews after the game because of his illness, per Syracuse Athletics.
