Second Annual Good Samaritan Run fundraises for Christian Health Service of Syracuse

Be part of the 2nd Annual Good Samaritan 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 11 at Long Branch Park in Liverpool, New York. The goal of this faith-based family event is to encourage volunteering and to provide additional funding for Christian Health Service of Syracuse, a not-for-profit medical facility at 3200 Burnet Ave. CHSOS has served thousands of people by providing affordable, primary healthcare coupled with the love of Jesus Christ in prayer to uninsured patients, low insurance patients and those with Medicaid.

No one should have to be turned away from receiving proper healthcare. In order to increase the capacity of uninsured patients presently served, surplus income is needed to take on an additional provider, hire new staff, recruit volunteers and extend the hours of operation. All proceeds from the event will help ensure quality healthcare continues to be provided at CHSOS to those who cannot afford the medical attention they need.

This year’s event begins with a free “Kids’ Samaritan Sprint” at 9:30 a.m. for kids ages 5–12, ($10 charge) around the event area and through the Finish Chute. The Good Samaritan 5K Run/Walk, geared for runners and walkers of all levels, begins at 10 a.m. Race registration is $25 per person. Children 12 and under are free. People with disabilities can participate with an attendant for one registration fee in a new division of the race called the “Buddy Wheelchair Racers.”

Afterwards, there will be an award ceremony for the top three male and female finishers and the top three finalists per age bracket and a swag bag full of goodies for all participants. Refreshments and bottled water will be available after the race. Inspirational music, vendors, entertainment and concession stands will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Space is available for vendors.

Register online at GoodSamaritanRun.org. Pre-Packet pickup at Fleet Feet in Dewitt on Friday, April 10, from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. The 5K course is USAT certified. Yellow Jacket Timing is in charge of data entry and timing services.

Companies may make tax-deductible contributions to The Good Samaritan 5K Run/Walk for Christian Health Service of Syracuse. Monetary gifts may be by check payable to Christian Health Service of Syracuse, attn: Good Samaritan Run 3200 Burnet Ave. Syracuse, N.Y. 13206. Your participation will go a long way to ensure that helping our neighbors in need continues to be possible. Come support a good cause.
