Halis, Willis become 5th, 6th players to leave Syracuse with eligibility remaining

Sophomore forward Alex Halis and freshman defender Brad Willis have both left the Syracuse men’s soccer team, they confirmed on Saturday.

Halis hasn’t indicated his future plans but did confirm he left the team via Twitter direct message on Saturday morning. Willis confirmed the same via Facebook message, and indicated that he’ll transfer to play soccer at another school that is to be determined.

Their departures bring the total number of players who’ve left Syracuse with eligibility remaining to six, joining Alex Bono, Stefanos Stamoulacatos, Tyler Hilliard and Emil Ekblom.

Bono is now a member of Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC, Stamoulacatos will play professionally in Greece, Ekblom is seeking to do the same in Norway and Hilliard transferred to Duke for his final year of eligibility.

The Orange will now only return 31 percent of its scoring output from a year ago.
