Kleinberg verbally commits to Syracuse as preferred walk-on, becomes 27th verbal commit

Don Bosco (New Jersey) Prep middle linebacker Kyle Kleinberg has accepted a spot as a preferred walk-on with Syracuse, he announced through his Twitter account Thursday morning.

He is the Orange’s 27th verbal commit in the Class of 2015 and the first preferred walk-on of the group. Kleinberg didn’t hold any other Football Bowl Subdivision offers but told Scout.com he received full-ride scholarship offers from Maine, Dartmouth and Yale.

He’s SU’s third verbal pledge from the state of New Jersey, joining running back Dontae Strickland and cornerback Daivon Ellison, who goes to Don Bosco as well. All three were recruited by SU’s primary recruiter for the state, tight ends coach Bobby Acosta.

Kleinberg becomes the third linebacker in the Orange’s class, joining outside linebackers Troy Henderson and Shyheim Cullen.
