JUCO tight end Dunkelberger commits to Syracuse

Class of 2015 junior college tight end Trey Dunkelberger has verbally committed to Syracuse, he confirmed to The Daily Orange via text message on Monday.

Dunkleberger stands at 6 feet, 4 inches and weighs 240 pounds, according to Scout.com. The two-star prospect from Pierce (California) College also received offers from Akron, Cincinnati and South Florida, according to Scout.com.

He previously told The Daily Orange he’d make his decision after his Dec. 5 visit to Syracuse, but Dunkelberger decided to pull the trigger 12 days earlier. Aside from a reclassified Wayne Williams, Dunkelberger is the first junior college recruit SU head coach Scott Shafer has brought on board.

With his verbal pledge, it gives the Orange 24 members in its Class of 2015, and its third in the last 11 days after not having any – and three decommitments – since Aug. 25.
