Syracuse men’s lacrosse names team captains for 2015

Hakeem Lecky, Henry Schoonmaker, Kevin Rice, Tom Grimm and Dylan Donohue have been named Syracuse’s captains for the 2015 season, head coach John Desko announced Friday morning.

Lecky, Rice and Schoonmaker are all seniors, while Grimm and Donohue still have two years left at SU. The five were elected captains by their teammates.

Rice was a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association second-team All-American last season, leading SU in points (80), assists (44) and ranking second in goals (36). His five points per game were fifth in the country and his 138 career points are seventh among active players throughout the country.

Donohue led the Orange in goals last season with 37 and was third in points with 54. The USILA honorable mention All-American was third in the country with a 52.9 shooting percentage.

Lecky will be serving as a captain for the second straight year and has 33 career points, including 17 last season. Schoonmaker, a USILA honorable mention All-American from last season, has 47 career points, 17 coming last year, and has scooped 57 ground balls in three seasons.

Grimm is one of the Orange’s top short-stick defensive midfielders, playing in 27 games in his career with four assists.
