Incoming freshmen Williams, Prater reportedly fail to qualify academically

Incoming Syracuse freshmen K.J. Williams and Treevon Prater have failed to qualify academically and will not enroll at Syracuse this fall, the Post-Standard reported Friday afternoon.

SU head coach Scott Shafer told the Post-Standard that Williams and Prater are both considering whether to go to junior college or prep school this fall.

Williams, as a four-star wide receiver, was considered one of the centerpieces of the Orange’s incoming freshman class. Prater is a three-star defensive back.

Williams is the cousin of incoming freshman quarterback A.J. Long and rising fifth-year receiver Jarrod West, but will not have a chance to play with either of them this upcoming season.
