Galasso sees field for first time in Syracuse career

After sitting out last season with a foot injury and the first two games of this season with an upper-body injury, Syracuse junior Nicky Galasso saw the field for the first time in his SU career. On Saturday against Maryland, the North Carolina transfer took the field on the Orange’s second-line attack unit.

“I would have liked to have seen him out there more on offense, but we didn’t have the ball to do it,” Syracuse head coach John Desko said. “I thought he was solid. I thought he looked confident. He’s running well. He’s shooting hard. So it doesn’t seem like the injury has slowed him down at all. It looks like he’s back to full force.”

Galasso, a West Islip, N.Y., product, mostly saw the field on man-up advantages. He recorded three shots, two of which came on the same man-up possession. One of his shots hit the post.

Said Desko: “We hope to plug him in as one of the pieces to the puzzle offensively. You know, let’s give him some time and see how he does out there. I’m sure he’ll assert himself more as the weeks go on.”
