Reddish still questionable to play, Syracuse otherwise healthy

After announcing Tuesday that he expects everyone but kicker Ross Krautman to play against No. 3 Clemson on Saturday, Shafer contradicted himself when a reporter asked about cornerback Brandon Reddish later in the teleconference.

“He’s questionable right now,” Shafer said. “We’d love to have him out there on Saturday. We’ll take it day by day and we’ll see.”

Reddish suffered a lower-body injury in the Orange’s blowout win against Tulane on Sept. 21 and missed the second half. Shafer said three days later that he expected Reddish to be questionable, but seemed to indicate Tuesday that was no longer the case when a reporter asked if anyone would miss the Clemson game.

“Not as of now,” Shafer said.

Shafer also said he and Krautman have discusses applying for a medical hardship waiver.

“I think he’s got some more kicks in him,” Shafer said.

Offensive lineman Kyle Knapp is back practicing, Shafer said. Knapp suffered a head injury in training camp and has not played for Syracuse yet this season. He did not have a specific update about defensive end Robert Welsh, who also missed the second half against the Green Wave with a lower-body injury.
